1. The team was founded as the Hartford Whalers in 1972 and moved to North Carolina in 1997, becoming the Carolina Hurricanes.

2. Ron Francis holds the record for most points scored by a player during his time with the Hurricanes, totaling 1130 points from 1994-2004.

3. The Hurricanes won their first Stanley Cup in 2006 after defeating Edmonton Oilers 4–3 on June 19th of that year.

4. During the 2019-2020 season, Sebastian Aho became the highest scoring player in franchise history with 193 goals and 451 points through 422 games played over four seasons (2016-2020).

5. Rod Brind’Amour is the only captain in franchise history to lead the Hurricanes to a Stanley Cup championship, doing so in 2006.

6. Eric Staal holds the franchise record for most career goals (322), assists (453) and points (775).

7. The Hurricanes have made six appearances in the Stanley Cup Finals since joining the NHL in 1997.

8. The team has retired four numbers over its history: Ron Francis (10), Glen Wesley (2), Rod Brind’Amour (17) and Cam Ward (30).
